29/05/2020 - To all our loyal patients and friends
We hope that you, your family and friends have remained safe and well over these last 10 weeks.
This is a brief message to reassure you all, as it would appear from the news that dental practices in England are able to consider re-opening from Monday 8th June 2020. We nor any other dental practice were party to this information before the public and as such we ask that you bear with us as we organize to resume our service as soon as possible.
We are delighted to be able to help those in need again but please don’t be surprised if your visit is somewhat different than before, you will be briefed via email and on the phone with the social distancing measures we have put in place.
If you feel you need urgent help, you can still reach our on-call dentist, between 9am and 5pm seven days a week.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are infected, live with anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19, or have any symptoms of COVID-19 (a fever, new continuous cough or loss/change in, sense of taste or smell) then, you must self-isolate in accordance with government guidelines.
We thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you all again soon.
22/05/2020 - COVID returning to work - An update
Unfortunately dental practices are still unable to open due to the corona virus pandemic, but rest assured we are doing all we can to ensure we are both ready and able to open in a timely manner with the utmost safety for our patients and our staff.
Yesterday our principal dentist Ceri completed his respirator mask fit2test training so that we can ensure the protection of our clinical staff and to prevent the inadvertent risk of transmission from staff member to any patients.
We have also installed perspex screens in our reception and continue to research the scientific evidence behind our protocols.
We are very desperate to open and assist those patients who may be experiencing problems but in the mean time our on call dentists are available to help provide any medication or advice you may need.

20/05/2020 - COVID 19 - Temporary reduction in service
Unfortunately due to the guidance that has been issued by our Chief Dental Officer and the British Dental Association, to reduce the risk transmission of COVID-19, All dental practices have still been told to limit their services to DENTAL EMERGENCIES ONLY.
We really hope to return soon, in the mean time if you have a severe emergency please call the practice and speak to our on call dentist.

Excel Accreditation
We have recently completed our annual Denplan Excel inspection and are delighted to have passed again with flying colours. annual by the British Dental Health Foundation, Denplan Excel is a comprehensive clinical governance programme and an invaluable compliance tool for practices. It also includes an innovative patient communication framework providing individualised patient clinical risk assessments and oral health scores.
Surgery 3
Due to increased demand we have now completed our third surgery. To make use of our new surgery we have been joined by 2 new dentists.
Lisa Davies joins us from her Clyde Road Surgery which recently closed and we are pleased to offer her and her patients a new home.
We have also been joined by Sarah Buckley. Sarah has worked for many years in oral surgery and is able to offer treatment with conscious sedation.
Our refurbishment program is just about complete. This has involved refitting our two former surgeries and adding a third. We have also rebuilt and redesigned our sterilising and cleaning suite to meet the highest standards set.
To complement this we have also redesigned our reception area to give people more privacy when talking to the receptionist.
Painless Anaesthesia
The Wand STA (Single Tooth Anaesthesia) System is now available at Elgin Park Dental Practice
Virtually pain free injections!
Many patients believe that needle insertion is what causes discomfort during an injection, when in fact most of the pain is caused by the flow of the anaesthetic.
At the heart of this device is an on-board microprocessor, which guides the anaesthetic flow rate. The microprocessor inside The Wand™ automatically compensates for different tissue densities and the anaesthetic itself is delivered at a constant pressure and volume so that the injection itself is hardly felt.
The Key Benefits Are:
Higher Patient Comfort
Reduced Patient Anxiety
Faster numbing onset and sensation recovery
No more blocks necessary - anaesthetise one tooth, without collateral numbness.
Painfree palatal injections, allowing you to view the smile-line immediately
Cotham North Residents Parking Scheme
Elgin Park Dental Practice is located in the Cotham North residents parking zone, there are four pay-and-display parking spaces located immediately in front of the practice and these can be used for up to 30 minutes completely FREE; all you need to do is obtain a ticket from the nearest machine. If your appointment is likely to be longer than 30 minutes then you will be able to park in a resident's parking space and obtain a permit from the practice, all we ask is that you leave us with some form of ID.
Sonicare and Airfloss
We are now stocking a range of Phillips Sonicare toothbrushes and Airfloss inter-dental cleaners at very competitive prices.
Philips Sonicare achieves its bristle velocity -the movement of the brush head in your mouth- through a combination of high frequency and high amplitude bristle motions. A Sonicare toothbrush delivers more strokes in two minutes than a manual toothbrush could in a month. As a result, it removes up to seven times more plaque* for a cleaner, healthier smile.
